Redesign of Steal This Book by Abbie Hoffman
Written in 1970 and published in 1971, Steal This Book exemplified the counterculture of the sixties.
The book promotes counterculture and mainly focused on ways to fight against the government and corporations in any way possible. The book is written in the form of a guide to the youth. Hoffman, a political and social activist himself, used many of his activities as the inspiration for some of his advice in Steal This Book.
I was inspired by silhouette screen printed activist work from the 1960s. I chose to have my silhouettes interacting with the pages; stealing, pushing, eating and shooting elements to give a visual aid to the rebellious nature of the content.
